Smalls menu

If you’re wandering through Portland and craving a laid-back spot that feels instantly welcoming, Smalls Restaurant is one of those places I love introducing to people. Located at 28 Brackett St, Portland, ME 04102, United States, Smalls sits comfortably in a neighborhood pocket where the pace slows down and conversation flows easily. The cafe-style vibe is relaxed and unpretentious, making it just as fitting for a quiet solo coffee as it is for catching up with friends. From the moment you walk in, it feels local in the best way, like a space designed for lingering rather than rushing.

What really stands out when I talk about Smalls is how flexible it is. You can grab a quick bite on the go, settle in for a casual dine-in experience, or take advantage of outdoor seating when the weather cooperates. The service options are practical and people-friendly, with takeout and delivery available alongside onsite service, which makes it easy to work Smalls into almost any day. It’s the kind of place that adapts to your schedule instead of demanding one.

The menu leans into variety without feeling overwhelming. Smalls offers everything from thoughtfully prepared small plates to satisfying prepared foods that work well for sharing. Coffee is a clear staple here, but it doesn’t stop there. The drink selection includes beer, wine, cocktails, and hard liquor, plus happy hour drinks that add an extra reason to swing by later in the day. Happy hour food keeps things social and snackable, while vegan and vegetarian options ensure different preferences feel genuinely considered.

I usually describe Smalls as a cafe that comfortably blurs into a neighborhood hangout. You can sip coffee, enjoy a quick bite, or unwind with a cocktail, all without the pressure of a formal dining scene. It’s approachable, easygoing, and built around simple pleasures done well.
